The MY 99 DIESEL
The engine is a 1.7 litre Intercooler Turbo Diesel. The advanced automotive
technology of the turbocharger essentially increases the power output of an engine. The
Intercooler, as the one on the Astra 1.7TD, supplements the functioning of the
turbochargers. It caters to the requirements of high performance turbo engines by
providing the air-fuel mixtures at optimal temperatures to enhance power delivery.
The suspensions are independent, wishbone plus McPherson strut in the front, and compound
link with double conical coil spring and torsion bar in the rear. Brakes are hydraulic,
diagonally split, power assisted disc (front) drum (rear), asbestos free.
The car stresses on the comfort angle for both the driver and the passengers. The
instrument panel is designed to wrap around the driving position to provide a
user-friendly console. There is special pollen filter that keeps the dust and pollution
out-side the car. The trunk has ample luggage carrying space, along with a low loading
aperture for ease of access. Moreover individually foldable rear seats allow variation of
load space.
Safety features:
The Opel Astra incorporates some of the most advanced safety features in the world. The
Opel was one of the first vehicles in its class to have side-impact protective bars as a
standard feature. Integrated ramps in the seat frames prevent passengers from
"submarining" under the seat belt in the event of a collision.
