The New Maruti 800 has trendy fenders, large indicator lamps and combination headlights. The larger bumpers and the new front grill give the car a contemporary look. The car has a monocoque construction - the chassis and the body are welded into one unit. The body has crumple zones which absorb impact and protect passengers from harm in case of a collision. Seat belts, dual circuit brakes, side impact beams and a laminated windshield add safety. The car is further reinforced in 13 critical locations.
The Maruti 800 EX comes with gas charged shock absorbers and the coil spring suspension at the rear which is more advanced than the spring type suspension in older Maruti cars. The coil type rear suspension for small cars was initially introduced with the Maruti Zen. It makes the ride much more smoother and comfortable for passengers on the rear seats.
