The unique aerodynamic "jellybean" design of the Zen offers greater "driving pleasure" as its distinctive feature.
Powered by a 993 cc, lightweight all-aluminum 4-cylinder, water-cooled SOHC engine, the Zen can generate a maximum power of 50 bhp @ 6500 rpm and combines a quiet drive with fuel efficiency and consistency.
Suspensions are front - independent with coil springs, and rear - 3-link rigid axle with isolated trailing arms, coil springs and gas-filled shock absorbers. The brakes are booster assisted dual-circuit disc (front) and drum
(rear).
Safety equipment includes:
Laminated windshield, Front seat belts (3 point ELR type), Side impact beams, Body reinforcements
Other features include:
Maintenance free electronic ignition, Remote operation of fuel-lid and rear-hatch, Front bucket-seats with long-sliding travel and reclining mechanism, Rear seat with fully foldable backrest, Detachable rear parcel tray for added convenience and security, Moulded roof lining for improved AC effectiveness and reduced noise levels.
The Zen AT comes with a Kenwood Maruti stereo system (120W PMPO), power windows, radial tyres, tinted glasses, automatic locking and internally adjustable outside rear view mirrors (left & right)
The interior is furnised with fabric upholstery, moulded and padded door trims, moulded roof lining, steering wheel with leather cover, vanity mirror on the left sunvisor and moulded floor carpet. The new body colored bumpers add a cool finish to this great car.
Although automatic cars are new in India, over 90% of car in US and 70% cars in Japan are with automatic transmission. Driving on the congested roads becomes much simpler as you do not require frequent changing of gears. The gear changes are controlled by a micro processor based automatic controller, to ensure fast, precise and soft gear changes. The transmission unit of the Zen AT is well protected and shielded by toughened steel plate. The oil sump provides added protection, making the chances of any damage while driving, very remote.
The Automatic transmission unit has a 'Kick-Down' facility that actually senses extra pressure on the accelerator and automatically shifts into lower gear - resulting in extra power, just when you may need it.
