This is a new-generation scooter that has recently been launched.A completely in-house design, it has a foure-stroke 150cc engine that pumps out 8 bhp@ 7000rpm. It styling is more-or-less based on Japanese lines, with the engine situated in the centre, infront of the rear wheel. The body is of the tubular frame type on the which the engine and other components are hooked, being enclosed by panels made from composite material. With manual gear and unique styling, the Spectra is going to be TVS’ answer to the new stringent emission norms coming into force by 2000. It has had a bit of a sales hiccup due to its high price, but the company has responded with an economy variant.
