- Prep the undereye area by applying a light moisturizer with an SPF.
- Wipe the eyelid area clean of moisturizer to prevent shadow from
creasing or sliding later.
- Lightly dust neutral powder over the eyelid area to enable the shadow
to set.
|
- Eye shadow color choice is key. The base and highlighter color (one
and the same) should be light (white, sand, and pale pink are great options) to make your
eye color pop. A polished choice of primary shadow usually lies in the brown range.
- Dip your shadow brush on to the base (lightest) shadow and then blow
on the brush to remove excess. Sweep the base color gently from the lashes up to the brow
bone.
- Using the shadow brush (and blowing again), apply your medium shadow
choice over the base color from the lashes to the crease of the eye.
|
- Moisten the thin eye liner brush slightly and dip into your chosen
eye liner color (and yes, tap gently to remove excess).
- Begin to apply liner at the inner corner of your eye, working
outward, and keeping the line thin and very close to the lash line.
- To achieve a more defined effect, very subtly repeat the lining
process on the lower lash line as well, being careful to line only three-fourths of the
way, ending as the inner eye is approached.
- To open the appearance of the eye, curl lashes gently.
- Mascara (the final touch) black or dark brown work well. Apply with
light strokes, lengthening at the outer corner of the eye.

- If dark circles or fine lines are a concern, there are great products
which moisturize, protect against sun damage, minimize dark circles, and plump fine lines.
|
|
- Eye liner is a great look now and really helps to finish the eye.
Good choices range from dark brown, to dark gray, to an almost metallic navy. Black can
appear a bit harsh and be unforgiving to application mistakes.
- Lining the inner rim of the eye is probably not the best choice now,
both to maintain a healthy eye and to achieve the most polished and natural effect.
|
|
- If you feel comfortable, forgo mascara on the lower lashes, but if
you'd like a little extra help, apply the mascara more towards the lashes at the outer
corner of the eye.
