New Delhi : India today expressed its solidarity with
the US in its war against terrorism by observing a
two-minute silence to pay homage to the victims of the
terrorist attacks on September 11.Responding to a call by
the government, a two-minute silence was observed at 10:30
am (IST) in government and private offices and educational
institutions. The Union Cabinet, which is meeting today,
also observed silence for two minutes. Lok Sabha Speaker G M
C Balayogi and the entire staff in the Lok Sabha Secretariat
joined the rest of the countrymen in observing two minutes
silence.In the national capital, traffic was brought to halt
as the clock struck 10.30 am. "Every Indian has to be a
part of this global war against terrorism," said Prime
Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in a message."We must and
we will stamp out this evil from our land and from the
world," his message added.
