Assam's ruling party takes recourse to ancient design science:
The ruling party, in a desperate bid to retain power, is not only working overtime by way of aggressive political campaigning but is also taking recourse to all forms of divine and spiritual guidance to keep its stars bright. A Hyderabad-based Hindu priest, believed to be an expert in vaastu shastra, was flown into the city to look into the positioning of the AGP headquarters in the heart of Guwahati. "The party head office and the chief minister's residence are the two places from where all important decisions are taken and so it has to be properly set in accordance with vaastu shastra," an AGP leader told IANS. "If the settings and direction of the rooms are not proper, then the stars might not favor our party," he added. The AGP headquarters has been given a major facelift with the main entrance, which earlier faced southeast, being dismantled and a new entry gate constructed looking towards the northeast. "The entry gate facing northeast symbolizes prosperity and has the power to attract others. This is a very strong and positive direction as far as architectural placement is concerned," an expert in vaastu shastra said. "By following the principles of vaastu, whose origins are traced to the Vedas dating back to some 3,000 years, an architect can design a structure that will not only cater to the physical needs of the resident but also to his requirements of mental peace and happiness," he added. So firm is the faith in the science that the setting of AGP president and Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta's room in the head office has been changed. According to AGP insiders, a vaastu expert suggested a new architectural plan for the party president's chamber. A chamber facing southwest would give Mahanta a tighter grip of party affairs, he suggested. Even the chief minister's official residence at Dispur has undergone some changes with the vaastu guru shifting locations of furniture, office tables and chairs so that the stars shine in his favor. "The chief minister and his wife have immense respect for saints and priests. Maybe some of their religious gurus might have helped them in the past in fulfilling their dreams," a close aide to the chief minister said. "There are a few religious gurus in Calcutta whom Mahanta visits at times," he added. The vaastu bug has also bit some senior city police officials. "A top police officer got his office room changed at the advice of vaastu experts," a source in the police department said. Child servant sacrificed to correct vaastu flaws!: CYBERABAD has once again shown that one of its legs in the stone age. In a gruesome, a child was reportedly sacrificed in nearby Medak district for correcting certain vaastu flaws. According to local reports, a businessman in reportedly sacrificed venkamma (7) to propitiate the vaastu gods for a flaw in his house in Patancheru, the industrial hub of Hyderabad. With the discovery of the body of venkamma from a septic tank close to the house of the businessmen, suspicion on how the little girl died has been doing the rounds. Venkamma was employed as a domestic help by the businessman's wife and the girl was missing since Dec 10. According to local residents, the businessman's wife hid the fact that the girl was her domestic help. According to reports, Venkamma, second child among the four daughters of J Dasu and Marthamma, was plying with other children when she attracted the attention of the businessman's wife. For two days she did household work in the businessman's house. On the third day, Venkamma went to work but never returned home. Venkamma's parents and friends, after searching in vain for her for four days, lodged a complaint with the Patencheru police on Wednesday the day on which the body was recovered from the septic tank. Enquiries revealed that on December 15, when the businessman called some labourers to prepare a cement lid for an open septic tank in the vicinity of the house, some of the labourers noticed the legs of a child protruding from the septic tank. When they pulled out the body, it was identified as that of Venkamma. Even as the police were dragging their feet in investigations initially, the members of the businessman's family reportedly bolted doors and fled Patencheru. Subsequently, when it became clear that the child might have been hired with an ulterior motive and done to death as alleged by some local people, the police registered a case under section 171 of CPC death under suspicious circumstances. According to local belief, bad vaastu could be converted into good vaastu through human sacrifice.
